Sucker Rod

Sucker Rod

A sucker rod is a long rod used in oil pumping. It moves oil from the surface pump to the downhole pump. It is in API 11B grades (C, K, D, KD HL, HY) and made from alloys like 4138M, 4330M, 4142.

Pony rod

Pony rod sections manufactured from carbon steel, alloy steel or project-specified corrosion-resistant steel, with threaded end connections and a load-carrying rod body, provide short-length adjustment within a sucker rod string in rod-lift and sucker rod pumping systems. Installed as a shorter string member where the required assembled rod length cannot be achieved by standard full-length rods alone, […]

Sucker Rod Couplings

Sucker rod couplings are threaded steel connection components installed between adjacent sucker rods or compatible rod-string members in an oilfield rod-lift system. Each coupling receives the externally threaded pin ends of the adjoining rods and becomes part of the load path that transfers reciprocating motion and cyclic axial load from the surface pumping unit toward […]

Polished Rod

Polished rod is the surface-end load-carrying member of a sucker rod pumping system, connecting the surface pumping unit with the downhole sucker rod string. It is typically manufactured from carbon steel, alloy steel or corrosion-resistant steel, with a precision-finished working surface and optional spray-metal or other wear- and corrosion-resistant treatments for demanding well conditions. During operation, […]

API Spec 11B Sucker Rod

API 11B sucker rod transmit the reciprocating motion and axial load from the surface pumping unit through the rod string to the downhole pump. A steel sucker rod consists of a heat-treated rod body with forged ends, wrench squares, shouldered pin connections and matched couplings. Standard rod-body sizes commonly range from 5/8 in. to 1-1/8 in., […]
